Introduction to the IBM Mainframe
Besides the five z15 T02 models annouced for 2021, IBM is also investing in its Operating Systems and ancilliary products.
As stated z/OS is the Operating System used by most large installations, and a new release, z/OS Version 2 Release 5, was
released in September 2021, it being a bi-annual event.
The overview of changes is available as a PDF and it illustrates a continuing commitment to the cloud, and Internet
security in general.
In September 2021 IBM made a new release
of its z/OS Operating System available.
Many
of the enhancements relate to Cloud support and
encryption
via better exploitation of in-built
hardware features of the z/Series Mainframe Architecture.
