Operating Systems ( 1 of 2)



Opposite are some non-mainframe Operating Systems, with the majority of people being familiar with Microsoft Windows. (Apple's MacOS has been omitted from the list but is applicable here.)

The green box identifies three Operating Systems which could be categorised as Hipervisors, as they offer the capability of virtualisation, meaning that one or more of the Operating Systems shown below the green box could run on the same computer.

The author has copies of Windows and Linux albeit on separate computers.

KVM is the abbreviation of Kernel Virtual Machine.
